Short Description
This two day seminar is designed specifically for nurse who are occasionally required to 'act-up' in management positions. The program looks at some of the key pre-requisites and skills for good, trouble free management.
A particular emphasis will be made on the importance of the use of emotional intelligence. This will be demonstrated through discussion throughout the program.

Objectives
Learn about:
1) Clearly state the difference between leadership and management and why an ANUM position requires both of these skills.
2) Discover more about the effectiveness of your style of communication - what works and what doesn't.
3) Describe strategies for motivating and encouraging staff.
4) Discuss with clarity, strategies for maintaining appropriate boundaries between yourself and other staff members whom you are occasionally required to supervise.
5) Reflect and debate the need to be resilient and to recover quickly from the arousal of upsetting emotions.
6) Give an illustration, which could be applied in your own workplace, of how to promote optimism and team cohesion.
