General Description
Many children in Australia are seriously overweight; recent research reveals that the number may be as high as one in four children. This is a health issue of concern for all conscientious health professionals. This program is designed for registered nurses who want to be better informed about evidence-based prevention and intervention approaches. Learn how to work effectively with the children themselves, their parents and the important organisations involved in caring for children, such as schools. This is an opportunity for you, as a nurse, to become proactively involved in health promotion no-matter where you work. The first program, held in Melbourne in March 2010, was very highly evaluated by nurses.
If you have identified a professional need to improve your understanding of management and prevention of childhood obesity as part of your planned learning activities, then this program will offer you an opportunity to gain continuing professional development (CPD) hours related to this topic.
