General Description
This operating theatre program is designed for nurses who work in the perioperative environment and who want to keep up-to-date about their nursing role and allied issues.
Topics that will be addressed include: environmental hazards of the operating suite; perioperative care; the vexing issue of the processes surrounding intended surgery and how to avoid wrong site surgery; intraoperative considerations such as defining the various roles of the anaesthetic nurse; the instrument nurse and the circulating nurse; patient positioning during surgery; asepsis update; and surgical count issues.
