Why Attend

People suffering from alcohol and drug related illnesses often experience a multitude of complex acute and chronic illnesses, either as a by-product of their dependence or contributing to their dependence. It is important that all nurses and frontline health professionals, including those working in remote and isolated communities, have a comprehensive understanding of dependence on drugs and alcohol, including their potential causes and effects. This seminar will address the psychology of dependence, skills for nursing assessment, the detoxification and withdrawal processes. These are two highly interactive days where you will learn about the psychological and medical considerations of dependency and addiction, applying these to planning evidence-based care. This is a crucial skills update for all health professionals.
