Legal CPD Courses

There are numerous legal obligations that are expected of and must be upheld by a practising nurse. A nurse must practise in a safe and competent manner and value the diversity of people. Knowledge of the legal, moral and ethical commitments that nurses must value are critical to a nurse's safe patient care and are part of all aspects of a nurse's routine, including:

  • Documentation
  • Confidentiality and privacy
  • Consent
  • End of life care.

Legal issues can also incorporate duties and requirements of Nurse Unit Managers and senior management staff in relation to staffing ratios, patient safety, work expectations and commitments and discharge of staff.
