Peter French is a registered general nurse and psychiatric nurse (UK and Hong Kong) specialising in surgical nursing and psychiatric nursing. Before moving to Hong Kong, Peter was head of the Continuing Education and Research Department at South Tees Health Authority in the UK and principal lecturer in nursing at Teesside Polytechnic. In Hong Kong, Peter has spent time as a reader in nursing at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, chief nursing officer and principal of the Institute of Advanced Nursing Studies and project officer for the Evidence-based Practice Project with the Hospital Authority (Hong Kong). Peter's first degree was in social psychology, he is a chartered psychologist and has a doctoral degree in education. He is the author of Social Skills for Nursing Practice, the editor of Nurse, Self & Society, has published 41 papers in refereed journals and written 20 chapters for his own and other books. He has delivered conference and guest lecturer papers in numerous countries throughout the world. Peter is currently the associate professor, School of Nursing, Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
