Paula Stephenson
Day Surgery

Paula Stephenson is a clinical nurse specialist in day surgery and, has been employed for many years at a large public teaching hospital in Melbourne. Prior to day surgery, Paula worked in intensive care, post-anaesthetic care units and operating theatres. Presently, she is actively involved in admission, discharge and care during day surgery cases. She has worked in the pre-admission role for many years and seen its evolution from a “one nurse band” to the vital department it is today. With her career background and a masters in educational studies, Paula enjoys teaching and sharing information with colleagues. A member of the Day Surgery Special Interest Group (DSSIG), she attended the biennial International Association of Ambulatory Surgery (IAAS) conference in Amsterdam in May 2007.
