Course Overview

Healthcare professionals require a comprehensive understanding of wound dressings and how to select and apply each type correctly in order to manage wounds appropriately. However, many of us are unsure as to which dressings to select and why one might be preferred over another. It is due to this uncertainty that education updates in wound dressings are essential.

Topics
  • Wound dressing product selection
  • Functions and limitations of wound dressings
  • How to implement a wound dressing management plan
  • Correct usage of particular wound dressings in clinical practice
Need

Wound dressings and their correct selection and application are vital for effective wound management for patients. There is a large variety of dressings available, each with specific purposes, and more products are being released every year. This can create confusion for nurses and health professionals when trying to choose the correct wound dressing for patients. Up-to-date knowledge about types of wound dressings and their uses is essential to increase confidence in meeting the needs of the patient. This improvement benefits all involved, including the patient, healthcare professional and the healthcare system.
