Aged Care Providers

Keep every residential and home care worker’s record in one system.

For residential and home care providers held to the Strengthened Standards. Ausmed assigns training by role and home and records each competency sign-off and policy acknowledgement as it happens. When the Commission asks, the audit report comes from those records.

More than 600 organisations trust Ausmed, including aged care providers across Australia

The rules for aged care providers changed on 1 November 2025.

The Aged Care Act 2024 and the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards are now in force, and Support at Home has replaced Home Care Packages. Each change adds to what a provider has to show about its workforce.

The Commission now audits providers in registration categories 4, 5 and 6 against the Standards when they register and renew. For the workforce, the evidence it asks for is records, and Ausmed keeps them as the work happens.

See what an assessor asks for, action by action

Every workforce action an auditor checks already has a record in Ausmed.

Under the Strengthened Standards, an auditor checks the workforce by asking to see records. Ausmed makes each one on the day the training, sign-off, review or acknowledgement happens, so the evidence is already there when the audit is booked.

Write each role’s skills and competencies down as a training plan

A training plan for each job role in Ausmed Learn™ sets out what the role has to complete, and each worker's record shows what they've met and what's outstanding.

Action 2.8.1(c)

Show your training system, and review whether it works

You assign training plans by job role and site. For the review, the Regulatory Standards report shows coverage and gaps against the Standards, and Board Reports keep completion month by month.

Actions 2.9.4 and 2.9.5

Train core matters online and assess them on the floor

Library modules on dementia, the Code of Conduct and SIRS sit in the training plan. In Ausmed Competency™, an assessor signs off the observed skill with their name and a time stamp.

Action 2.9.6

Supervisors record their conversations, and workers get training they can follow

Supervisors record one-on-one meetings and feedback against the worker in Ausmed Perform™. Training modules have closed captions in eight languages besides English.

Action 2.9.3

Probation and annual reviews run on schedule

Ausmed Perform™ runs probation and annual review programs from organisation-wide templates and keeps a record of each one.

Action 2.9.7

Record every policy acknowledgement, version by version

Ausmed Policy™ keeps each policy's version history, owner and review date, and records each acknowledgement with the worker, the date and time, and the version.

Action 2.3.7

Train everyone in SIRS, and retrain after an incident

SIRS training goes out through training plans. After an incident, you assign training to the home or team involved and publish the updated policy for acknowledgement.

Action 2.5.4

Your infection prevention and control lead’s training sits on their record

The lead's qualification and ongoing training sit on their Ausmed record. Infection prevention and control training goes to everyone else through the same training plans.

Action 4.2.1(a)

Ausmed holds qualifications and prior learning against each worker

Pre-employment checks usually stay in your HR system. Ausmed holds qualifications and prior learning against the worker, with the certificate uploaded, and user sync keeps each worker's role and manager in step with HR.

Action 2.9.1

“What really makes me quite proud from a learning and capability perspective is our 16 sites being at four-star rating.”

Leonnie Wickenden, L&D and Compliance Coordinator, Baptcare

The Ausmed Workforce Capability System

One platform for the whole aged care workforce record.

When training, competency sign-offs, policy acknowledgements and reviews sit in separate systems, someone reconciles them before every audit. In Ausmed they sit against the same worker, kept in step with your HRIS by user sync.

Outcome 2.9 asks for skilled, supervised workers. Ausmed holds the record of each.

Outcome 2.9 of the Strengthened Standards asks for aged care workers who are "skilled and competent in their roles", with the "training and supervision" to do the work well.

Each part comes down to a record: the competency sign-off, the qualification, the training completed and the supervision conversation.

Ausmed holds each of those records against the worker, in one system, across every residential home and home care team.

The Regulatory Standards report maps learning records against all seven Strengthened Standards for residential homes, and against the Standards for each registration category in home care.

How it works

Set up the way your homes and teams already run.

One set of requirements across every home and team

You assign training plans by job role, team and location, and they can repeat on the cycle you set. When user sync with your HRIS moves a worker to a new role or site, their training plans change with them.

Customer stories

Hours of admin back each week at Cooinda, and faster onboarding at Ozcare.

Cooinda, a regional aged care provider, spent 10 to 15 hours a week on admin before moving its performance reviews and staff feedback onto Ausmed. It now spends less than an hour a week, a 93% reduction.

Ozcare, a large home care provider in Queensland, found its onboarding process delayed new staff by six weeks. With Ausmed Learn™ and Ausmed Library™, Ozcare now onboards new staff within five to seven days.

Audit Report in Ausmed Analytics

Take an Audit Report into the audit, straight from the records.

Paper sign-offs stay in a folder at the home, and someone works out completion by hand from a fortnightly export, then builds the report the week the auditor asks.

In Ausmed Analytics™, you scope the Audit Report to the homes and teams under audit. It shows status per person and per requirement, and lists the staff with unmet requirements for your comments.

Edit it for the audit in front of you and download it as a PDF. Book a walkthrough and we'll show you the report your managers would take in.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work with home care providers as well as residential?

Yes. Home care teams use the same platform, with training on the Ausmed app for iOS and Android and reporting against the Standards that apply to their registration category.

How does Ausmed work across several homes or regions?

You set training requirements once, by job role, team and location, and they apply to everyone they cover across the organisation. Filter reports by site, team and role, and compare sites side by side.

What does implementation involve?

Ausmed's onboarding team works with you through set-up, testing, staff training and launch. After launch, Australian-based support is available by phone and email.

Is Ausmed content mapped to the Strengthened Standards?

Yes. You can filter Library content by Standard and action, and the Regulatory Standards report maps learning records against the Standards.

Mapping shows coverage and gaps. Your practice shows whether your care meets the Standards.

How does Ausmed keep our data secure?

Ausmed holds ISO 27001 certification for its information security management system. Your IT team can ask for security documentation during evaluation.

How is Ausmed priced?

We scope pricing to the size of your workforce and the products you use. We'll quote once we know your homes, your teams and what you need.
